1/2 Scale Mannequin PDF Patterns - BUILD YOUR OWN BUST & MEDIUM FEMALE

£14.00

This downloadable PDF includes the pattern and full photographic instructions for sewing your own half scale mannequin. The mannequin is proportional so can be used to help develop sewing patterns, or just as a delightful room decoration/jewellery stand.

Version A was developed in collaboration with Burnley & Trowbridge. It has a completely flat front on which to build your desired bust shape.

Photographic step by step instructions are included for the body, and for padding the bust up with wadding. Instructions for a malleable bust (shown in image 2) are provided by Burnley & Trowbridge via their Mannequin in Miniature workshop. This style is perfect for creating stays and corsets.

Click here to see all the Workshops offered by Burnley and Trowbridge. If you are taking part in a workshop then the ‘Burnley and Trowbridge Bundle’ includes the other patterns required to make the full mannequin used in their projects.

The flat front of this version also makes it ideal for building up with layers of wadding or foam to duplicate your own bust, or create the fashionable silhouette for any period, without adding stays or corsets. Be that the pigeon chested Edwardians, the separated mounds of the Regency era, or the cone shaped 18th century. Examples are given for how to pad for different eras.

Version B is the medium sized female also available separately in the shop. Both versions are the same everywhere except for the bust.

The mannequin has a weighted base so can stand unsupported on a table. For draping full length garments it can be hung at any height from the loop in the top, or placed on a stand (the pattern for this is sold separately).

Mannequin Measurements:

Version A - Chest without Bust 17 ¼” (44cm) / Waist 15½“ (39.5cm) / Hip 20” (51cm)

Version B - Bust 19 ½” (49.5cm) / Waist 15½“ (39.5cm) / Hip 20” (51cm)

Full Size Equivalent:

Version A Chest without Bust 34 ½” (88cm) / Waist 31“ (79cm) / Hip 40” (102cm)

Version B Bust 39” (99cm) / Waist 31“ (79cm) / Hip 40” (102cm)

The height of the mannequin stood on a table is 16½” (42cm).

Please note the measurements will vary a little depending on your fabric and the amount of stuffing. The mannequin has been designed to be made at home using materials you could reasonably find around the house:

  • 0.5m cover fabric & 0.5m of medium weight cotton

  • About a pillows-worth of wadding/poly-fil to stuff it with

  • Coins, washers, rice or lentils to weight the base

  • Stiff cardboard for the neck, arm holes and leg holes

  • Cotton tape, ribbon or cord for the hanging loop

  • A large button to anchor the hanging loop
